Our cheap Christmas wrapping.

December 18, 2009

It’s kinda a challenge for me to see how little I can spend on Christmas wrapping.  It started last year and continued to this year.

Here is the final outcome.

I got the roll of Kraft paper for under $2, for 100ft!!  The stamp was in the $ bin at Michaels and since this year we introduced Santa, went along with out theme.  The ink was the cheap stuff, I think $1.  I just used a pen we had lying around and cut the extras for “cards.”

My MIL does these really cute little hints on all our presents and I started doing the same thing, although mine pale in comparison.

If you’ve got kids that like to get crafty with crayons/stamps and ink… let them loose on some kraft paper for some very personal, unique wrapping.

Whew…what an order.  21 members in this family and they are now on their way to Canada.  I do think they are especially charming when there are a bunch of members, don’t you?

Handmade goodness!

July 31, 2009

Ohmygoodness… I’m so touched!!!  I took photos for a 50th anniversary for a family recently and received this in the mail today from the wife.

It’s handmade and beeeeautiful!  I know just how I am going to use it too… for my yarn.  It’s perfect.  When you feel prompted to do something for someone, don’t dismiss the voice for it can truly make that persons day!

Oh boy!  I’m fully addicted to yarn my friends.  There’s NO turning back now and I’ve been creating left and right.

I just finished this sweet little ditty last night, ain’t it cute?

The best thing about this hat is I came up with it on my own.  Now you KNOW I’ve been spending way to much time around the knitting/crocheting sites.

Identity crisis.

Hmmm, lately if you stumbled accross my blog, you’d think it was all about the crafts. I promise to get to more photography (I’m editing engagement/maternity and a wedding right now) but in the meantime, I leave you with yet, another craft of mine.

I had to finish a family of 14 and get them out the door, in order to arrive by Mother’s Day. Whew, talk about time crunch. It’s also my largest family order to date, so that was fun.

I have a couple families I’m working on (Jess and Jenn) but if you’ve wanted some and haven’t ordered, now is a good time as the rush is through. If you look under blogroll, you can find a link to my Wee-Me site. I need to change that to sit under websites, but that’s where it is located right now.

Endurance!

I did it! I finished my first real knit hat. It feels soooo good to actually follow a pattern from start to finish.

Lack of sleep means…

GIVEAWAY!!!

I want to give away a little newborn hat I made last night while trying to sleep with NO luck (thanks to the uber strong coffee I made.)

It’s a very earthy brown/cream/green color and would work well in photographs.  Because of the tail and tassle, I would actually only use it for photographs and not for everyday wear.

It’s definitely for a bitty-baby, but may fit a 3month old, depending on head size.  Leave a comment and if I don’t have a way to contact you, be sure to leave that too and I’ll draw a name tonight (this will be a short contest.)

The color on this shot is not the best, but trust me…it’s a lovely color.  Very warm, earthy and natural.

I’m in love with etsy!  Anything handmade you’d want, at your fingertips.  It’s incredible what people can create.  Ever since starting my Wee-Me store, I’ve been buying things from there and what I’m finding are treasures.

I have a peapal (penpal) that is a wonderfully talented knitter.  I wanted to find her something unique and special and started wracking my brain to come up with something.  I randomly came across this site that sold stitch markers.  I was kinda looking for myself when I spotted IT!!!  It could NOT be more perfect if I created it in my brain.

I met Ness on 2peas and so you’ll see how perfect this is…I am just so excited for her to get it.  She promised me she’d not look at this post today, so I’m trusting her will power.

Isn’t this the most perfect gift?  I think she said they were made from polymer clay.  I’ve never used that medium for anything, but I LOVE it!  Next time you want to find that perfect gift for someone, check out Etsy and support handmade.

We thought we’d let the boys do some egg-dying.  Oh my.  It’s so good that we have a plastic mat underneath our table for times such as these, because it was not a pretty sight.  The eggs turned out cute, but the aftermath was not so cute.

We are actually going to re-create the scene on Thursday with some natural dyes my friend Emily posted about in her blog.  They looked so beautiful, I just have to give it a try.

So, without further ado, here are some of our “less messy” shots.easter

See the nice, clean containers?

We gave Nathaniel a plain egg to “play” with for a little while, while we spent time getting things set up.  He’s just such a busy boy these days.

All by himself…with extremely close supervision!  Oh, and mom-can you see his haircut?  It’s not as bad as I made it out to be and it’s growing on me now.

easter3

See the little pink one to the right, with the wide-open mouth?  It is a coincidence that Dewey told me that one was me?  Probably not.

They sure had fun-I really love doing crafts/traditions with the family!
